So I've been having issues with my current starter, i think it's related to some fraying on the big copper braided wire. It will sometimes start fine, but it always cranks a few times before turning over.
Then other times it won't start, just hear it clicking. If i go fool with that wire enough it generally does the trick and I can start it.
Looking for a good used starter, even possibly one just to try do i can troubleshoot this problem.
I'm in Helena
Thanks,
Keegan

Ah! I was actually looking for that, thanks man. I did something similar to fix this one when i first built the Passat, it's semi-cleaned and rebuilt from two individual starters. That might help, but i think the reason it doesn't work at this point is external not internal; very intermittent too.
Either that braided ground strap, or something with the power wire/plug connection from the ignition. Ignition switch was just replaced too.
I don't know if it would be possible to have someone build me a new wire for that little piece on the starter
