1982 VW jetta diesel

So I was driving around town yesterday and saw this jetta. Just instinct I followed the guy untill he stopped Luckyily for me he didn't go far. Turns out this guy has 2 1982 Diesel jetta's as well as a rabbit also 82 and also diesel. I got the guys number and he said he might be willing to sell the other jetta he wasn't driving at the time. Told me this jetta's body is in horrible shape But that I'm going to try and start this body work and learn the paint and stuff it could be a good learning car.

I don't know anything about them so I'm pretty clueless. What should I look for when I go and look at them?

Nevermind I will pass on this. Diesels are difficult to work on and I don't know much about cars as it is. So this would be a bad idea for me. If anyone else is interested Pm me and i'll give you the guys number

Yeah kevin said that he bought a car from him like 4 years ago, some jetta. I wish i knew stuff about these cars i hate not knowing anything
