Big Sky Euro

First thanks to Ramrod, Randy, Matt, Jason and Don This weekend we recovered this VW Bus from the field that had been sitting since 1987. Used as a storage shed, but still in decent shape and missing a motor.

7. Replace various missing/broken bits
8. Mustache Bar
9. Clean up fuel tank
10. Replace fuel lines
11. Install motor and F.I. system
12. Wire double relay system
13. Double check charging system
14. Test drive

I'm excited to see the interior once it's all cleaned out. And it's not work, it goes by faster than you think. Seems like only yesterday I was dragging my Square home. Mike, I'm glad to see you survived Don. I'm sure you guys made his week by giving him someone to talk to.

We loved Don, in fact he gave us a new term of endearment to use..."jizzer" Guess you would have had to been there.

Oh and I will be taking before and after of the interior for sure. The weather and time need to cooperate for me.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help! Just wasn't the weekend for me....spent sat entertaining my 2 brothers-in-law. We had a good time, but no dub time unfourtunatly.....

Looks like a killer deal to me! whats the interior like? Is that remains of AC? Hows your battery trays?

I think you lucked out with a 72. have you decoded the plate yet?

No worries, I can understand the family thing. Fortunately I have all of my family here to bother me anytime they want.

So I did some more "work" last night and tore into inspection, cleanup and some interior removal. I have one tire that won't seal the bead (they will be replaced anyhow) and decided to pull it, so while I had the bus sitting on a jack stand I thought I would check out the rear brakes



Not bad for being older than I am, and I would bet the shoes are OEM.

So then I decided to do a quick test see how the plastics would clean up.

I actually did the whole cab dash, but it was too dark for pics when I finished it up.

I moved onto the rear passengers area and cleaned it up and removed the interior.






Remenants of the AC that was installed



Pulled back the nasty outdoor carpet and found that the OEM rubber mat was underneath





Pulled out the back seat



Got the rear hatch to open finally...the grease had turned to a solid mass





All those little bits are years of rotting insect corpses



All clean



After the rear was moderately cleaned up I moved to the front





Stripped all the rubber bits and the passengers seat, and then vac'd out the floor. Found a nice set of Craftsman needle nose pliers under the rubber floor

It was starting to storm and get dark, but I was able to get a couple more shots before I had to go inside, then go back to work to fix some issues with the power outage

It's quick work and super easy to clean up. More to be done later.

There he is Yup that's the AC setup that was pulled out at some point - don't know if I will put it back in or not. I'll email you about the motor, and I have decoded the plate - I'll see if I can get the link
