Also, are you going to put some sortof firewall between you and the motor? I mean the radiator would make a great heater in the winter, but it might be a bit warm in the summer!

it will def. be fire walled... the steering lock in the back came from vw tie-rods welded to square stock and the bolted and welded to the sub frame, it still retaings fill adjustment and suspension, oh and we drove it this weekend, went off without a hitch :) it was a pain trying to RPM shift the tranny with your hand..... but it pulls pretty good! LOTS of wheelspin in the corners (UNLOCKED) diff

Guys, check this out... kit is only $100 and you can install without removing the transaxle.
Factory torque steer 20%, with this kit 80%.
I have heard good things about these kits running in high power rabbits with 020 trannys. Cheaper than spending $800 on a true LSD.
In the front end I know they are really good in snow and eliminating torque steer.
I would be running one of these kits if I had a spoolin MK1.

thats a good idea  just to see what happens we might just weld the spider gears:) the whole project is still under the 100 dollar mark... we want to keep it as cheap as possible...

alot of progress, the car is completely stripped and getting ready for paint, matt has cut the rear apron out and welded in a replacement (thanks kevin) hes also been working on straightening the car out dent and ding stylz while ive been shaving the engine bay (now trunk) to include mk 2 style trays that run from chassis legs to inner fenders courtesy of matts grinder skillz. were also making a floor in the engine bay that will hold an old style beetle gas tank to keep the gas in check. weve also completely shaved the front apron of all its holes so no more bumper bracket holes and the two smaller grilles that are usually behind the bumper are also shaved smooth. it really gives a unique look. the car should be in primer very soon and i will update this with pics asap to SHOW progress.
