kompressorgolf, would you like to help me redo my MKII Jetta, But seriously if you don't mind me asking but how much does a project like this cost a person. And where and what parts do you start with. I really want to redo my Jetta but don't know where to start. I'd appreciate any advise. Thanks for any help you can offer.

it all depends, ive been working on this one for about 11 months solid including the price of the car and approx. the added sum of the little stuff from parts stores and of course the big expensive parts im in it about 15k, now keep in mind that every nut and bolt on this car is new oem vw from the dealer, every trim clip trip replaced etc. etc. eccentually (sp)? im building a (new) as it can be rabbit without buying a mk5 knockoff :ninja:
its all about what the car is for, i wont be daily driving this but weather pends that, if its a car you must build while driving it then it must be worked around. i started ground up the day i got the car home is the same day its guts were laid out on the garage floor then build it back up until its whole again, hell even the base model antenna plug is new.....

Thanks for the answer, that is what I was wondering. It is good knowledge to keep in mind. I need to start making money and pick my project I guess. Someday I'll get it done though. I spose you saved a ton of money doing that work yourself.

Where did you find most of the oem parts? MIG or online. Our dealership here sucks, they do not carry any parts at all and if you ask for a MKII part they freak out and say parts are not available anymore. Basically they don't want to bother to get off their asses and actually find the part. It is very frustrating.

i work in parts at the vw dealer so when im slow i scrounge the etka for what i need, it all has to be ordered (except the o.e. gas cap :) ) but other than that, all the nuts bolts wheel bearings new wiper arms wipers trim clips grill clips engine hardware minus arp stuff all new seals oem small duckbill and clips etc etc is all dealer, and some other stuff that was cheaper via rabbit parts .com and german auto parts. i have all the receipts from everything and the stack is enormous.

other than that, im going f*cking nuts sitting and waiting for the car to come back painted. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: it makes me :puke: thinking about it all day every day, ive helped with everything i can now he smooths out the fresh welded rear arches and shoots it and it makes me thinking about it............. hopefully soon i can update this thread with pics for you waiting to see this thing as much as i am.....
